Welcome to my website! I will be posting here to document my upcoming (and a few past) travels across the USA.
Back in 2002 and 2003 I drove across the country and back. On those trips I was looking to get from point A to point B fairly quickly. Sightseeing was kept to a minimum. At that time I had a camera with film in it, no personal computer and definitely no website. I was driving a black 1996 Nissan Sentra with a tape deck and followed roads on my Rand McNally road atlas.
This time around will be just a bit different as you can imagine. I’ve got a red 2004 Honda Accord with an iPod hook-up and a digital camera. My maps come from Google and the original Rand McNally will serve as a back up. I will be on the look out for specific regional culture and I will visit every friend and relative I can. I’ll be taking my time to see what I can see and driving without a destination. (I’ve got a rough idea of where I’m headed, but the end of the trip hasn’t yet come to my mind. In other words, I know the last place I have planned so far, but the next place is up in the air, as is the place after that and so on.)
Think of this website as an investigation into what it’s like to live and travel through the USA (excluding Alaska and Hawaii). I’ll post about the people I see – who they are, where they are, what their lives are like. I’ll post about the places I visit – the landscapes, the artworks, what’s there. And I’ll post any other things that might come to mind while I’m traveling. I hope you enjoy it!
